Silverware for Skipton Brass

Posted on 9th July 2017 by

Four rehearsals in and the band wins it’s first piece of Silverware with a beautiful rendition of The Swedish Hymn – otherwise known as ‘How Great Thou Art’.

The beautiful setting of Ripon Cathedral is the annual the backdrop to the Ripon Contest where bands come and play an open choice ‘entertainment programme’. The contest is organised by Ripon City Band as part of the Ripon Festivals Programme and is always well attended by bands and the public alike.

Having already secured a place in the contest before Jack was appointed the band always knew it was going to be touch and go as to whether they actually had a programme but through sensible choices and some excellent playing the band did themselves proud and came away with the first piece of silverware in the recent history of the band.
