Malhamdale in May

Having a gazebo (or two in our case) is definitely the way forward in the banding world – especially when you play for a band in Yorkshire.

Our second adventure into the dales this year was a little damp at times but the sun still came out and the ducks enjoyed the weather so much they even decided to have a race. Not to be outdone by the ducks, our conductor decided to try his luck at crossing the stepping stones in his ‘Sunday Best’ – and much to the disappointment of many onlookers he made it not just once but twice!

As always Malham Safari is a real community event and everyone comes out to help, whatever the weather. Some of the visitors we spoke to said it had been their first visit and they were definitely coming back next year while for others it was part of their annual bank holiday weekend and they have been coming for several years. With several cafes, pubs and with the stunning Malham Cove being only a short walk away, it’s not surprising just how busy this village is all year round – but especially at this time of year.
